Lessons From the Holocaust

Tennessee is the first state to use Holocaust education as a tool to support adult literacy. In 1994, the Tennessee Holocaust Commission partnered with the University of Tennessee Center for Literacy Studies to bring Holocaust education to adults who are learning to read or are seeking to receive their high school diplomas.

Adult educators throughout the state have participated in developing the curriculum and have received training from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in partnership with the THC.

The TN Department of Labor and Workforce Development has utilized this ground-breaking program which has resulted in a curriculum titled “Lessons from the Holocaust: Educator’s Resource Toolkit,” available for free by clicking here or by contacting the THC at 615-343-1171.
